Josephine Mauro Supports “Her Family’s Hospital”
Josephine Mauro is extremely proud of her family’s 100-year
history in Guttenberg and their strong ties to communities
throughout Hudson and Bergen Counties.
She fondly recalls how her father Antonio started the North
Hudson Beverage Company and how her mother Elisa knitted the
town’s first sweater to honor the American soldiers who were
risking their lives during World War I. She also remembers
ice-skating on the lake at Hudson County Park – the same lake
that her nephew, Robert Petrolino, enjoyed fishing at every
morning before school.
Today, Josephine takes great pride in supporting “her family’s
hospital” through generous donations to the PMC Foundation. A
special plaque currently hangs inside one of the hospital’s
elevators to commemorate Josephine’s late parents and to
recognize her strong philanthropic efforts as a member of our
Founders Society.
“Palisades Medical Center and the Harborage will always have a
special place in my heart,” said Josephine. “The doctors, nurses
and aides always went out of their way to provide my family with
the best care possible. I never had anything to worry about when
they were here, and I sincerely thank Ed Davis (Harborage
Administrator), Dr. Maurizio Miglietta and Dr. Samir Amin for
everything they have done for my family. I also give special
thanks to our good family friend Arthur E. Imperatore for his
caring support and for his hard work in bringing Palisades
Medical Center to our community 30 years ago.”
Josephine also helps Palisades by encouraging others to support
the Foundation. “Elisse Glennon and the Foundation staff do an
excellent job of making donors feel appreciated,” said
Josephine. “I always tell people to make a donation – no matter
how large or small – to help others in need. That’s why I am
happy that our family plaque has been placed in a highly-visible
area to inspire others to give.”
